Problem: Governments and school districts find it difficult to obtain clear information regarding what students, parents, teachers and the employees of each school are feeling regarding the learning process. As a result, these entities frequently implement standardized programs and public policies that do not necessary meet the requirements of the various groups within the community. To resolve the problem, Panorama Education created a platform that analyzes data that are collected from the schools and facilitates the decision making process regarding which changes should be made.
Solutions: The platform was designed specifically to conduct research within the schools. The schools can administer these studies in person or via the internet with students, parents, teachers and school employees. The data is analyzed and presented to teachers and school administrators and includes clear and constructive feedback that can be employed in improving teaching methods and the schools as a whole. The company oversees the entire study process, from its conception to the application of the study and the preparation of reports and monitoring analyzes. Issues that can be studied include: the temperature in schools, bullying, parental participation, teacher support, the work environment, social and emotional learning, university study and career preparation and student safety.
In one district, for example, the study revealed that teachers were very concerned with the students. The students, however, where unaware of this. The study helped teachers to understand that they needed to show their students that they cared about them.
The studies can be conducted from kindergarten through high school. Based in Boston, in the United States, the company was founded by students from Yale University.
Outcomes: The platform helps schools to discover what is happening, why it is happening and what can be done to improve the situation. The company strives to deliver reports containing new information that teachers, school principals and superintendents do not possess and that is also easy to understand. With this data, these professionals can have a clearer understanding, as well as plan and implement initiatives more appropriately. Whereas teachers receive personalized feedback, the school receives the full report. The tool has already analyzed the programs of more than five thousand schools in 26 American states.
